Kadampa Meditation Centre Tokyo is newly opened in Daikanyama!

 

In Hiroo, meditation class in Japanese will be final on 12/7 (Fri) and meditation class in English will be final on 12/19 (Wed).

The new classes will start in Daikanyama from December 2018.

 

Meditation Class in English (in Hiroo, taught by Janet Yeh)

Our drop-in classes are taught by qualified Buddhist teachers, are easy to understand and apply to our daily lives.

The classes offer scientific methods for improving our human nature and qualities through developing the capacity of our mind with emphasize on how to use meditation and subsequent practices in the midst of the busyness of modern life.

Practicing both on and off the cushion, we learn how to overcome irritation and anger, reduce stress, become more mindful and improve concentration.
Classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced practitioners and consist of 2 guided meditations, a short teaching and discussion.
No need to bring anything or wear special clothes – just something comfortable to sit on the floor or on a chair.

Each class is self-contained and suitable for all levels, including beginners. You are welcome to join any week.

In each of these classes from August to December 2018, we will cover meditation techniques from the books ‘8 Steps to Happiness’ and ‘How to Transform Your Life’ by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, contemporary Buddhist meditation master and author of 23 highly-acclaimed books.

We will practice guided meditations which function to

– improve our ability to relax more deeply and quickly
– improve our ability to stay mindful and put aside distracting thoughts and feelings
– maintain a peaceful, relaxed confidence from within, less vulnerable to others’ changing perceptions of ourselves and challenging external circumstances
– from the stillness of our own meditation seat, transform any negative thought patterns into constructive, positive thought patterns that lead to deep-seated happiness in the busyness of modern daily life

People from all faiths and those who do not subscribe to any faith are welcome. You do not have to be a Buddhist to take part in the programme or to benefit from it.
